2017 Fall Fest is a growing and improved music series designed to bring tourism to the Central Coast and feature some of the finest venues in San Luis Obispo County. 2017 Fall Fest shows include locations in Morro Bay by Giovanni's Fish Market and STAX, Park Place (former Level) in Paso Robles, and Pavilion on the Lake in Atascadero. We are likely adding at least one more show to this series to round out the series, which is a benefit for 2018 SLO Jazz Festival (date May 18-19, 2018) and the 2018 Summer Jazz Workshop (dates TBD). Each show will feature silent auction trips and items and a $20 wine raffle where you can win 20 bottles of wine from wineries such as Cass Winery, Wild Horse Winery, and Castoro Cellars.
The music at 2017 Fall Fest includes a mix of blues, funk, funk-rock-jazz-latin, contemporary jazz, and New Orleans funk & jazz. This year will feature on September 30 BLUES by the BAY with harmonica master RICK ESTRIN AND THE NIGHTCATS. This 30+ year veteran of blues continues the legacy of Little Charlie and the Nightcats, one of the greatest West Coast blues bands of all time. Opening for Rick Estrin is Elektric Voodoo, which features Scott Tournet (founding member of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals) and a musical style they describe as "World Beat Rock & Roll" but definitely you'll hear blues, rock, funk, jazz, and latin flavors in their music. This show will be at Gio's by the Bay between the Fish Market and STAX with the Morro Rock on the bay as a backdrop!
On October 14, same location as the Rick Estrin show, is ORGONE and JUNGLE FIRE -- two of the hottest funk bands out of Los Angeles you will ever hear. These bands are tight and feature full horn sections. Jungle Fire, an instrumental band, will open the show and set the funky vibrations for ORGONE, who opened for Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show's The Roots on a recent tour. We encourage you to book your stay in MORRO BAY for both of these fabulous shows!
The following week, we'll present GUITAR FEST 2017: A TRIBUTE TO PAT METHENY, featuring HRISTO VITCHEV, TERRENCE BREWER, AND RICK VANDIVIER, three of the SF Bay Area's finest jazz guitarists. This concert is set smack in the middle of HARVEST at all the wineries, so you can really make a weekend of it and get up to Paso Robles for a great getaway, or simply enjoy the vino, get an early dinner in the Square, then hop over to Park Place in Paso Robles for the finest guitar playing you'll hear this year.
We will close out the 2017 Fall Fest with a fantastic blues show with Coco Montoya at Pavilion on the Lake in Atascadero on November 11. Coco Montoya has been blowing away people for years with his fantastic singing and stellar guitar playing. His blues band will get you dancing for a night you won't soon forget. We suggest booking a weekend of it and enjoying the Central Coast, with this show as your featured attraction for out-of-towners. Atascadero hotes will book up quickly, so don't delay booking!
