Tim Costa on congas, djembes and other world percussion has an impressive list of professional credits including touring with Pato Bantan, the Wailers and many others and is a guiding force in MAMA TUMBA. The horns section includes the diverse talents of Jordan Adams lends his lips to the high brass of the trumpet; Brad Croes on tenor sax and Laura Foxx on alto fill out the evolving horn section. More drummer's: African ShowBoy allstar, Anitye Mensah, originally from Ghana plays djembe, assorted percussion and drum kit primarily. Growing up in Africa, he brings a wealth of knowledge from his own culture and contributes his considerable composition and arranging skills to Mama Tumba. We are pleased to have Mory Bangoura from Guinea West Africa, playing djembe, djun djuns and percussion; Mory is also a masterful African dancer and contributes his considerable dance skills to our shows. On the low African drums, percussion and flutes is Karrie McKinney; Karrie is also an African-style dancer and drummer and vocalist who has been performing in the area for the past ten years. Gifted lead singer, Lauren Riffle, belts out some sonourous lead vocals over this big band, and Brian Lanzone brings a wealth of experience to his bass playing which ranges from funk to classical; he has played with the Daimon Castillo Band, GOZA, Zongo Allstars, SLO Symphony and currently plays with the Tipsy Gypsies among other groups. Talented Thomas "Toes" Cuffe lights up the keyboards with impeccable chops and experience has played with Resination and local favorite Unfinished Business. Paul Trent is on guitar; Paul has a long and varied musical background with interest in a wide range of music and instrumentation. Currently his passion for afrobeat style tunes has helped inspire the creation of MAMA TUMBA.
